CyberSecurity Champion

The Cyber Security Champion project will train community members to become CyberSecurity Champions, providing ongoing support to their communities.

Overview

Champions will receive training in cyber security awareness, digital vocabulary, network forums, and online support.

Champions will also provide tutorial and translation assistance at workshops that are open to the public and primarily target their own community members. A Project Coordinator will support the Champions by answering questions and providing updates on current scams and attacks through a learning platform. This platform, hosted by Concinnity Consulting, will offer resources and forum support where Champions can seek clarification and support each other.

Upon completion, Champions will be recognised in their communities as go-to support. We expect Champions to have a sense of community service and will offer work experience, with TIMS and Concinnity acting as referees for future job opportunities.

The poster emphasizes community support and veteran experience, and includes contact information and logos of Toowoomba International Multicultural Society and Concinnity.

The Program

The project will train 32 Champions through a structured program of 2 x 3-hour intensive workshops scheduled roughly one month apart and a one-hour tutorial in between those workshops to reinforce learning by applying knowledge and familiarising them with a knowledge sharing platform/forum (4 intakes).

Translators will be available during sessions to ensure a comprehensive understanding for all participants.

The champions will gain in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and publicly available resources that outline the latest cybersecurity threats and government updates, safe online practices, and basic digital hygiene throughout the sessions.

The program will build and uplift the champions cybersecurity knowledge, how to stay current with threats and ability to protect themselves and their communities and participate in online forums. The champions will also continue to engage with other champions, and the greater community, after the end of the program.
