We are a community organisation serving people from all cultural backgrounds whether Australian-born or migrant. Our aims are:-
- To promote fellowship and amicable relationships amongst people of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- To strive towards making Toowoomba and region an increasingly inclusive, peaceful and tolerant society that honours, and makes place for, the contributions towards these goals from all cultures of the people of the region.
- To engage with the community through initiating and participating in social, cultural and educational activities.
- To promote research, learning, and information exchange in support of these goals and of peace, friendship and understanding.

TESOL Academy Launch on 17 March

Toowoomba Languages & Cultures (TLC) Festival 2012
12 August - Queens Park Toowoomba 10 - 4.00
The Seventh TLC Festival has been recognised by the State Givernment as an iconic festival of the region. TIMS has also been successful in its application for the three year iconic grant from Multicultural Affairs Queensland (MAQ) for $15,000/year for 2012-2014. We are very grateful to MAQ for their sponsorship.

The Year of the Water Dragon was held on 4 Februray at the Coffee House Toowoomba. The event was also fund raiser for the Toowoomba Hospital Chilren's Appeal. Over 160 guests attending the function enjoyed an 8 course banquet and were enthralled by world champion martial arts students from the Red Dragon School of Martial Arts in Brisbane, who performed the traditional Lion Dance and also gave a martial arts demo.
The function received excellent coverage in the Toowoomba Mail and The Chronicle and also WinTV news.

Diwali 2010
Diwali - The Festival of Lights - the biggest festival of India - was celebrated for the first time in Toowoomba on 23 October with a Bollywood Concert and Indian supper and Bollywood entertainment for over a hundred people.

The Fifth Toowoomba Languages And Cultures Festival was opened by Her Excellency the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce on 8 August 2010, Sunday at 11.00 am.
Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were received by Mayor Peter Taylor, Ms Gitie House President TIMS and Mr Ron House. Uncle Darby gave the Welcome to Country of the Jaggera and Gyabul people. The Town Crier Mr Ralph Cockle announced the arrival of their Excellencies. The Greeting Party also included The Honourable Kerry Shine MP, Cr Bill Cahill, Festival Director Ms Elizabeth Jones, Ms Majella Costello (President Modern Languages Teachers Association Darling Downs Branch), Mr John Manseray (West African Alliance), Ms Cecilcy Bishop (Modern Languages Teachers Association) and Ms Daphne Fung (TIMS). Mr David Barton from mercy Family Services was the Emcee for the performance stage.
