The 11th Toowoomba Languages & Cultures Festival to be held on 14 August, Sunday was launched on 9 May by the Mayor, Paul Antonio along with Gitie House President TIMS, Francis Xavier President Pasifika Toowoomba, Maria Chong Nee President Samoa Group of Toowoomba, Kila Xavier President Toowoomba PNG Group and Peter Munster Director Student Engagement & Leadership, USQ.

Human Rights Day - 10 Dec 2015

  Zonta International organised the Human Rights flag raising ceremony on 10 Dec 2015 at the Village Green.

   The audience pledged to end domestic violence with Mayor Paul Antonio who is also a White Ribbon Ambassador. The keynote address  on Human Rights was given by TIMS President Mrs Gitie House.  Zonta District 22 Lieutenant Governor Ms Ans Van Erp condemned domestic violence.

Geraldine Doogue is joined by guests  Professor Lorelle Burton, Psychologist from the University of Southern Queensland, Gitie House, President Toowoomba International Multicultural Society, Dr Mark Copland from the Catholic Social Justice Commission, and former refugees, Moses Ali and Prudence Melom. They discuss what Australia can learn from Toowoomba’s experience of helping to settle refugees who have moved into the area.
